Commercial vs Open Source Software In Virtual Classrooms.

Several classrooms have a combination of both open source and commercial software in their classrooms. This is mainly because neither vendor can satisfy the requirements of the educational spectrum.. This spectrum  is ever so dynamic and diverse that  it is impossible to determine which way is the best way .

On one hand ,you have open source with its advantages ( free), but you will need and in house IT to keep it functional.

On the other hand, you have commercial (Paid for ), but you get great customer service .

There need to be a marriage of the two whereas, the IT and the commercial institutions  are consistently in contact with each other solving problem, circumventing  the third party ( teacher)  ,who has to use the software.
